Special Notes:
To create a random dyed effect on the pants, work one strand of 4-ply yarn in one color and one strand of 4-ply yarn in another color together to make one stitch.
Work with two strands together throughout this pattern. If you have chosen to make them one color, then knit with two strands of wool throughout.
The finished knitted fabric will be slightly thicker than a standard DK yarn and the pants will also be a lot more durable this way.
Instructions are given for the smallest size with the larger size in brackets (). Where one set of figures is given, it applies to both sizes.

Place these sts on an st holder.

To Make Up
Turn the casing over at the fold line to the WS of the work. Slip stitch the casing in place, leaving a 5cm opening to insert the elastic.
Cut a length of elastic to fit the waist, allowing extra for seam allowances.
Pin a safety pin to one end of the elastic and thread through the opening. Overlap the ends of the elastic and stitch securely.
Sew the gap in the casing.
Sew in loose ends at the back of the work.
Join the legs together at the inside leg seams.
Sew any patches or motifs neatly in place at the front of the knees. (optional)
