You may want to find a box to place your gift into. A box makes an oddly shaped gift easier to wrap and adds to the excitement of opening the gift.
If the item is fragile, remember to place tissue paper, or protective foam chips, around it in the box.
To make sure you have the correct amount of gift wrap, wrap a piece of string around the longest side of the item or box you are going to wrap, including an overlap of about 3cm. Cut the string and use the piece to measure the length of the wrapping paper you will need.
Do the same for the short side of the item. Use the same method for cylindrical items.
To add extra neatness to your parcel, after cutting the gift wrap fold over the long edges before sticking them down.
Try using double-sided sticky tape to secure the wrapping paper.
Because the tape is invisible, the effect will be a very professional looking parcel.
Ensure a snug fit, as you wrap the paper around the parcel This will result in a very smart finish.

Once you have wrapped a square or rectangular parcel, you can sharpen the edges by lightly pinching your thumb and forefinger together, while sliding your hand down the length of the edges. This will give your parcel a very detailed outline.
To make the ribbon curl, open up your scissors and, holding the ribbon tightly at one end, pull it quickly over the blade, away from your hand. Repeat for extra curl.
You can even try some paper quilling for that extra special touch.
You can use leftover wrapping paper to make a matching decoration for your gift. Cut the wrapping paper into narrow strips, then curl them with scissors, as above.
Fasten the curls together in the centre with a stapler.
Attache to the gift with double-sided sticky tape.
You can personalize gifts by adding a little greenery.

Look for an artificial leaf or a real flower from your garden. Slip it into the fold of the wrapping paper or tape onto the gift to add that extra-special touch.
Gift wrapping is something that I can safely say happens most for me in the winter holidays. Surprising enough it’s not so much so during birthdays, just Christmas related stuff. Each roll of wrapping paper can ideally cover 4-5 medium size boxes. That would cover things such as shoe boxes, coffee makers, and things around that size. Depending on the size of your family, you can have an abundance of gifts wrapped with 5 or so rolls that get things wrapped in packaging and stuff a car built for a family of 4+.
