Hi Lou, I can’t answer you when it comes to how long the charging port holds out, but the inside of the bag is water-resistant. There are various smaller compartments on the outside and six large ones in the middle that are perfect for holding your wool and even patterns. The outer sleeve is great for holding all your knitting needles and crochet hooks. It is smaller than your conventional back pack, but it is really spacious inside. I love the holes for your wool to come out and not get tangled.
